Hard optimization and constraint satisfaction problems, as one of the ultimate challenges to computing systems, is benefiting from increasing interests in novel computational paradigms, such as analog computing, neuromorphic computing and quantum computing.

The purpose of the workshop on “Non-conventional Approaches to Hard Optimization (NAHO’17)” is to bring together researchers working on developing novel approaches (both hardware and theory) for solving hard constraint satisfaction and optimization problems. The workshop will provide a platform for these researchers to exchange advances in each of their respective areas, compare and critique each other’s approaches, and forge new, collaborative relationships.

All the presentations will be given by invited speakers who are experts from various areas, e.g., theory, algorithm and system design, architecture and circuits as well as applications. To stimulate discussions, the workshop will also have a panel and poster session. All participants are encouraged to submit posters. If you plan to present a poster, please email Sharon Hu shu@nd.edu.
